Once testing is complete and a product is certified, the information is included in our Database of Validated and Certified Products, an online tool that allows users to search for efficient products by product category, company name or product name. The manufacturer may then use the Energy Efficiency Certification logo on marketing materials, packaging and the product itself.
Opportunities are available to leverage participation in the Energy Efficiency Certification program with our other programs, including Environmental Claims Validation and Sustainable Product Certification.
Consumers can check the UL public website for reliable product specific energy performance data.
Companies can also apply for access to our approved Data Acceptance Program, which provides the flexibility to conduct testing in-house.

With dedicated laboratory services and technical support, UL helps manufacturers attain ENERGY STAR compliance for insulation products with surface burning characteristics, energy efficiency and environmental services.
We can also provide certification services for test data already available from an ISO 17025-accredited test laboratory with insulation in its scope.
UL customers may also access many other testing and certification services for insulation products, such as UL Listing, often required by the code enforcement community. When insulation products are UL Listed, there may be no need for retesting to meet the EPA’s three-year recertification requirements, thereby saving time and money.
Furthermore, UL enables greater exposure for customers with our Energy Efficient Product Database. With this free online search tool, consumers, distributors, retailers, authorities and others searching for suppliers of ENERGY STAR-compliant insulation products can easily find products verified by UL.
